Gaming began with primarily being played on computers. From primitive games like Pacman and Card games to classics like WarCraft series, Diablo series, Tom Clancy, Painkiller to modern day hits like World Of Warcraft, Hellgate London and Dirt, PC never had much trouble in winning a gamers heart. However, the same cannot be said in today’s times since the PC has some heavy competitors like Nintendo’s Wii, XBox 360. Gamecube and Playstation 3. These consoles are themselves too good to resist and along with these factors are the extraordinary games being made exclusively for consoles only. That said, the PC still offers many games to be played on it along with few games which can work on both PC’s as well as on Consoles eg. Final Fantasy XI. Read the rest of this entry »

Last week we had a game modder from New Zealand in trouble for using the New Zealand Police’s insignia on GTA’s police cars. Now GTA trouble moves to the United states with the various parents associations crying foul over GTA-IV for apparently being too violent. For their part, the parents’ associations claim that the GTA-IV’s violent graphics will adversely affect minds of minors. But the puzzling fact is that most of those who are making these allegations haven’t even seen visuals of the GTA-IV which have been shrouded in secrecy. We do agree that game developers should introduce strict advisories clearly mentioning the age group deemed fit to play a particular game. But once they do that, it then becomes imperative for the parents to enforce that strictly in their homes rather than calling for stoppage of sales of the so-called violent games. All this hype and hullabaloo will only heighten the excitement and mystery surrounding the GTA-IV thus inadvertently promoting the game. In case you were unaware, April 29th is when Rockstar Games’ GTA-IV will finally hit game stores across the US of A.

Here is a charging station that is completely unnecessary but may still be bought by PS3 lovers just for it’s style quotient. Joytech have created this very good looking charging station called the Fusion which can be used to charge your PS3’s Sixaxis wireless controller. This charging station that vaguely resembles a F1 car’s steering wheel looks spectacular with it’s high gloss finish that endows it with a cutting edge, uber-cool look. You can charge your wireless controller with the mini USB port that will fit your wireless controller perfectly. It also has a blue charging-LED light that displays when your wireless controller is being charged. Though we still wonder why we need an extra accessory just to charge the wireless controller, hardcore PS3 enthusiasts and gadget freaks might want to buy one of these.

Old school gamers who find the cramped layout of the Wii controller very cumbersome and want to stretch their fingers out and play a few old street fighting games will most definitely like the new Neo Geo 2 stick controller from SNK. This controller comes with a proper arcade joystick and an impressive joypad, which makes playing fighting games very effective and easy. But unlike old school controllers, this controller looks very chic and stylish in matt black trim. PC gamers too will have a gala time gaming on the Wii with the Neo Geo 2 controller as it’s layout somewhat mimics the stack key layout of PC games. This controller selling at $59.99 is one big reason why gamers will want to lay hands on one of these, this summer. You can buy the Neo Geo-2 stick controller right here.

Sony electronics has just announced a firmware upgrade for it’s popular handheld gaming console, the PSP. After installing the new 3.95 version of the firmware, you can now customize the PSP’s gaming keys to PS1 specifications. What this firmware essentially will do is, it will let you play a number of PS1 titles, which were previously not compatible with the PSP due to the differences in the game key configurations. One more major feature that comes with the new firmware is that you can turn your PS3 off or keep it on with the PSP, which incidentally was used by gamers as a controller for the PS3. You can download the new firmware directly onto your PSP via Sony’s online service or alternatively download the firmware 3.95 into your computer and then install it onto your PSP. The firmware will be available for download very shortly.
