sony ps3 home
Although there has been a lot of talk about introducing social networking for the gamers, till date, only Rockstar Games have announced a launch date for their GTA game forum which will hit the internet on April 15th. Now, we have one more contender for the social-game networking pie with the PS3 Home all set to undergo public beta testing. The PS3 Home is a virtual world, modelled on the lines of the highly popular Second Life, where gamers can shop, interact and even play online games. For this, every PS3 owner will have to create an online profile/avatar of himself with which he can become a part of this alternate gaming universe. The public beta testing is all set to begin on the PS3 Home, which means it could hit the internet pretty soon. Now that Sony and Rockstars Games have started the game networking trend, expect the other console makers and developers to follow suit very soon. The future looks very exciting for the console gaming crowd. Watch this space for some real news from the virtual world!

Make calls with VoIP on your Nintendo Wii

nintendo wii chatter
Gaming is now entering internet telephony with Nintendo all set to launch a Wii accessory with VoIP. This phone, called Wii Chatter will enable gamers to interact with each other from any part of the world courtesy the internet. But don’t expect to chat up your rival gamer across a couple of continents with a hope to distract him into gaining an upperhand. No, that is not yet possible in the Wii Chatter, you can only chat when you are not actively gaming. Chattering away is very easy with the Wii Chatter a.k.a Nunchuk which has a speaker and a microphone built in. So, all you have got to do is, keep the Wii Nunchuk at your ears like a conventional phone and start chattering away. Very handy indeed. To dial numbers, you use the voice dial system or the Wii remote which has built in motion sensors. Nintendo has gone an extra mile and added a very retro Victorian style telephone holder for the Wii Chatter/Nunchuk. That’s a very smart touch. You can get your hands on one of these this somewhere around Christmas. Till then, game on.

mgs4

High definition has always been a big memory eater, and to redefine BIG, we now have the all new Metal Gear Solid-4 game title for the PS3’s Blu-Ray, getting a Massive, 50GB of memory. Till date, PS3s Blu-Ray Drives have seen games with upto 25GB but all that will change soon with the MGS4’s 50 gig Blu-Ray. This news has come straight off the Konami’s retailers meet that happened on the 13th of this month to resolve the memory issue the MGS4 was facing. Incidentally, news broke out last month that the 25gig Blu-Ray disc couldn’t hold all the languages for the MGS4. And Konami have also announced that even with fifty gigs, the MGS4 Blu Ray discs to be sold in Europe and North America will not have Japanese voiceover and the Japanese MGS4 Blu-Ray discs will not come with English voiceovers. This Glaring omission can only mean that the very successful Metal Gear Solid series will get cutting edge, high definition game graphics and some real high quality thumping sound.

dexter vid game

Close on the heels of the Lego Batman PS3, Dexter, of the popular television series, is all set to be made into yet another video game. Marc Ecko entertainment signed a production deal with Showtime Networks to make the video game based on the television series character. The game is being developed to work on a number of platforms ranging from the PS3 to the Xbox360. A developer for the games is yet to be named. For those who haven’t a clue about the Dexter television series, don’t mistake it for Cartoon Networks’ Dexter’s Lab. This Dexter is a little more serious. Basically, Dexter is a forensic blood expert for the Miami Dade Police Department, who also happens to be a serial killer, thankfully, he kills only criminals. This TV series has completed two successful seasons in the USA and is based on novels by Jeff Lindsay.

The innovative fun to play Nintendo wii on top

Jayprashanth:

wii market leader

Though many had written off Nintendo’s Wii before it’s release in mid November 2006, when it had to compete with the simultaneously launched Sony PS3 and the early bird Microsoft’s xbox 360, it is Nintendo, thats having the last laugh while its gaming console Wii outsells the PS3 4 to 1. Now lets forget about Microsoft’s xbox 360 which is nowhere near the PS3, not to mention the market leader Wii. Nintendo’s Wii sold 331627 units as compared to 89131 units of Sony’s ps3 in the four weeks leading to Feb 24th this year. So what is driving the considerably cheaper Wii, at $249 in comparison to the PS3 starting at $499, to take top honours in the ultra competitive console gaming segment. First of all, while the PS3 was targeted only the hard core console gamers, the Wii ventured off the beaten path and created a whole new set of casual gamers with its innovative fun to play titles like ‘Super Smash Bros Brawl’ and Wii fit. The Wii’s revolutionary controller design with unique motion sensitive gameplay reinforced the fun element to Wii gaming and made up for Wii’s lack of high definition graphics.
